Do you each have a favorite character? Couple? Friendship?

Becca: Oooooooh! It’s so hard to pick a favorite anything. I feel like I’m cheating on someone. I have to say that right now, I’m in love with Raisy since we just finished writing their POVs. Friendships: Connor & Ryke have been given more a spotlight in the last third of the series, and their story arc has been really special to me. I also love Daisy and her relationships with her sisters as a whole. I could go on for days talking about the friendships! Krista, you better stop me now.

Krista: Stop! Just kidding. You can go on 🙂 For me, I have a soft spot for Lo and Lily because they started it all. But then Connor and Rose because I love the love-hate relationship and all the intellectual banter. For friendships, my favorites are Ryke and Lily, who have really grown throughout the series, and then Connor and Lo because of the LoCo banter.

Do your perceptions of your favorites ever conflict with how your sister sees those characters?

Becca: Nope. The thing is, we have to have a similar view of every character while we write. Or else the book would ultimately say different things. We have in-depth character analysis talks, and it helps us see all the different angles and facets of each character we write. It’s a lot of communication and understanding of what we’re putting to page.

Krista: Becca said it best! We talk about them so much and piece through each character’s psyche that our visions and understandings completely align. If we’re ever off from each other, we stop and talk some more until we’re back again. We’d never be able to write this series if we didn’t view the characters the same way.

How do you resolve those type of writing conflicts if they exist?

Becca: Chocolate and long, long, long discussions.

Krista: Very long discussions. Sometimes we halt writing for an entire day just to talk.

Were there any scenes or details in the original Addicted books would you would change now that you’ve completed the series?

Becca: No. Looking back, I’m so happy with everything we put out there. I believe in every scene and how it fits together to create this one long journey that spans years and years, honing in on the lives of six people.

Krista: I agree with Becca. Everything pieces together so well that there’s nothing I would go back and change.

The Fizzle Force crew rocks and they are a pretty dedicated group of fans. Have their impressions of the characters affected how you see the Addicted crew?

Becca: The Fizzle Force is amazing and so kind and loving. We can’t speak highly enough about the fandom. If someone views a character a little differently than we do, it doesn’t change my personal viewpoint. I can make a case for my perspective the same way that a fan could for theirs, and that’s what makes discussing books so much fun 🙂

Krista: Love the Fizzle Force! There will always be readers and fans who view the characters differently, and we always champion that. It’s the beauty of reading. Everyone has their own interpretation of the books. Like Becca, my viewpoint won’t change or be affected by someone else’s.

How do you keep all the details and time lines straight with the various couples and their books?  Have there been any oops – that doesn’t work moments found after you’ve hit publish?

Becca: CHARTS. So many charts! And the Addicted series bible (what we call our notebook with series facts) keeps us orderly. There haven’t been any “oops” that would mess up the content of the series. I’m sure we’ve missed a typo here or there. We’re only human.

Krista: My chart is insanity. I made it after we wrote Addicted to You and it’s now 16 pages long. It breaks down each month of the year with the characters ages and birthdates.

How much has writing this series changed your relationship with one another?

Becca: We were best friends before, but we’re a lot closer now than we were. I’d say it’s only made it better 🙂 I love you, Krista!

Krista: Definitely for the better! I have endless amounts of love for Becca, and there’s no one I’d rather write with than her.
