For eighteen-year-old Becca Torrence, the chance to finish high school in a new town, where no one knows her or the secrets of that night, should be a dream come true. But when the first day of school rolls around, something is wrong.

Instead of being greeted with warm smiles and reassuring hellos, Becca finds herself on the receiving end of icy stares and cruel whispers. Putting it down to her status as an outsider, she holds her head high, because they can’t know.

They can’t.

Can they?

Determined to make her new life in Credence work, Becca is willing to do whatever it takes to fit in. Even if it means losing herself in the process.

A white lie can save you … Too many lies will break you.

4.5 Stars

WOW! Liar Liar was crazy intense thanks to the alluring and mysterious characters and a plot which was hella cryptic. I don’t know which way is up now that I’ve finished reading but I know that I definitely want more.  I need some answers L.A. Cotton!!

So here is the deal.  Becca and her parents moved to Credence to get away from Becca’s past.  The people, town and school are nothing like what Becca knew from her previous home and the first book really is about her adjusting to her new life.

The way the storyline unfolds, it creates a confusing web of the unknown. Not only did I not know what had happened to Becca at her old school; I didn’t know why everyone was so angry and mean to her at her new high school. All I knew for sure what that Becca was barely enduring her new surroundings until a new group of friends and boy start paying attention to her.

However, all the new relationships feel shady – like the people she’s now calling friends might be untrustworthy.  Especially Evan – who I was a desperately hoping was a good guy.  The complex relationships and weird group dynamics made my heart race and it left me devouring page after page – I couldn’t get enough.  I was always wondering, what is going to happen next.

It exciting and really entertaining.  The only flaw I found with the story telling was the lack of information, even at the end.  I spent a good portion of the book anticipating that aha moment when all the things that I didn’t understood suddenly made sense. BUT I NEVER GOT THAT MOMENT IN THIS BOOK!!  I will need to wait until book two for real truths about the main character’s lives.

My recommend is that you check Liar Liar out.  It’s an intriguing story and a series worth reading.  I know I’m already looking forward to Truth or Dare – I cannot wait to have a better understanding of why what was happening did happen and to see if Evan and Becca find happiness together.
