Then comes marriage.
Then comes a—
Hold up. You’re joking right? As if life works off a neat little list like that, moving down, checking things off before jumping to the next task. We’re not married. We’re not lovers. Hell, we’re hardly even friends. Noah Wilson isn’t exactly “life partner” material, and he sure as hell isn’t “father material”. He’s my older brother’s best friend, and has been off limits, sworn off, locked in the highest tower and out of reach since we met over ten years ago. With his devilish good looks, tattoos, motorcycle, and trail of broken hearts and tears, I’ve had good reason to stay away from the bad boy my mother warned me about.
Until one night. One stupid, regrettable night that changed both of our lives forever. And now I only have nine months to decide our fate, to see if Noah’s rebel heart is capable of anything more than a one night stand.
This isn’t a love story. This is a life story. And life doesn’t go according to plan.
Emily Goodwin is the author of the twice banned dark romance, STAY, as well as over a dozen other titles. Emily writes all types of romance, from love stories set in the zombie apocalypse to contemporary romances taking place on a western horse ranch. Emily lives in Indiana with her husband, children, and many pets, including a German Shepherd named Vader. When she isn’t writing, Emily can be found riding her horses, designing and making costumes, and sitting outside with a good book.
First Comes Love was my first book from Emily Goodwin and I thought it was a sweet and engaging read. The characters were enticing – both entertaining as well as charming. If you’re looking for a light-hearted love story, definitely check this book out.
I really liked the main characters. Lauren is a smart, driven character who has had her entire life planned out versus Noah who lives his life one exciting moment to the next. Even though, their lives have been entwined since they were teens, they have both always known the other was off-limits.
However tequila follows no rules and thanks to one reckless evening these two become forever tied to one another.
Lauren and Noah’s romance is definitely nontraditional. They might be opposites but they truly like each other’s company and once they give each other a chance, they seem destined towards happily ever after. Lauren and Noah just need to get over any preconceived notions of who they are and how it should all be.
First Comes Love is a sweet and slightly predictable book that I genuinely enjoyed reading. My favorite thing about the book was probably Noah – I absolutely loved him and his persistent pursuit of Lauren. He made me laugh and it was understandable to me why he had Lauren swooning. It’s awesome!!
I wanted these two characters to find their way and I was delighted to experience it all with them. I would absolutely recommend this book.
