book blurb

Laurel Young needs a plan, and fast. After her reality TV boss has a major meltdown, not-so-fun employment seems inevitable–unless she can pitch the idea of a lifetime. When she sees Flint McKay’s audition tape – flannelled, handsome as hell, and building a house with his own two hands – she knows she’s found her secret weapon. The women of America are going to love him, especially if she can convince him to try building without the flannel shirt.

Only problem is, Flint didn’t make that tape – and he has zero interest in trading the wilds of Western Massachusetts for the bright lights of Hollywood. But Laurel isn’t the kind of girl to take no for an answer. Soon, she’s knee-deep in rustic charm, and getting plenty of hands-on experience. And it turns out, this city girl and country guy may have a few things in common after all, like crazy hot chemistry, a wild side, and a weakness for good whiskey…

But can their behind-the-scenes connection last once the world falls in love with Flint? And will this be the big break both of them need- or leave them in the dirt?

my review5 Stars

I really, really enjoyed this book. Rugged was one of those romances that you can’t help but get caught up in the excitement and the absolute fun that is the story.

Our heroine, Laurel Young, wants to be become an executive producer for the TV station that she works at. She’s made a few wrong turns – mainly in the romance department – that have delayed her from being exactly where she wants to be with her career. She’s finally given a chance to prove herself and this smart, determined woman isn’t going to let anything stand in her way. It’s awesome.

Enter Flint McKay. A man who really has no desire to be a reality TV star but desperately wants to save his family’s business. Flint is smart, sexy, and incredibly charming. He is definitely a reluctant hero but once he finds his way, he is confident and you understand why Laurel is smitten with him.

Flint and Laurel’s story was a fast-paced read and it’s storyline was entertaining as hell. Moment to moment they either had me laughing or swooning and more thany anything, they had me absolutely falling hard with them. I loved these two – halfway through their book, I was almost desperate for this couple to give into their feelings and lust!!

There are few moments in the book where my heart was caught in my throat and I wanted to threaten bodily harm to the author on Twitter. But her plot twists kept me on my toes and left me devouring page after page. I guess every good romance needs a little angst!!

This was my first book from Lila Monroe but it definitely will not be my last. I enjoyed her writing style and her quick wit. I was completely captivated by Lila’s alluring duo – I wanted them to get their happily ever after and I would absolutely recommend you pick up a copy of her new release, Rugged today!!
