Welcome back to Laguna Beach…

Laura Kinkaid’s glamorous Hollywood life is falling apart. After years of reality television stardom beginning in high school on Laguna Nights, her career and relationship with her long-term boyfriend Scott are fizzling out. Laura decides to go home to Laguna Beach for the weekend to attend a baby shower for her high school friend. That decision – and a car accident – will lead her to a new future, if she’s ready to take a chance at love.

Paul Dorn’s former life in New York City is far behind him and he’s working in a popular Laguna Beach surf shop when fate brings the most beautiful woman he’s ever met into his life. The attraction is instant and he has an overwhelming desire to protect her. While Paul’s retail sales career is a short-term job for market research purposes, his focus on Laura is long-term.

Will Laura allow a handsome stranger to help her create a future unlike her past, or will the bright lights of Hollywood pull her back to LA?

excerpt

“Are you alright?” asked an absolutely gorgeous man who appeared by the side of her car. She wondered where he’d come from. She hadn’t been sitting here that long, had she? She couldn’t speak. All she could do was stare at him. He had dark, soulful eyes, eyes that were currently focused on her with a worried look in them. As she continued to stare at him, he reached his arms out to her, muscular arms sprinkled with thick dark hair. “Here, let me help you.”

He pulled her car door open further as the sound of sirens pierced the air. The man put his arm around her waist and practically lifted her out of the car. His touch felt so private, almost intimate. Before she could process what was happening, he escorted Laura and Tucker to the sidewalk.

“Are you hurt?” he asked, letting go of her waist. She was surprised at the disappointment she found in that. She didn’t know this man, but had taken comfort in his strong arm as he escorted her across the street. She missed that comfort now that he’d let go of her. And if she were honest with herself, she’d enjoyed the feel of his hand on her side. When he had touched her, a zing of instant attraction had replaced the panic of the accident. “I’m Paul Dorn, by the way.”

Hearing him introduce himself broke through the shock she was experiencing. He had asked her something, right? She shook her head, almost as though she could shake herself back into reality. He’d asked if she was hurt, right? “No, I’m fine. Tucker seems to be, too,” she said, rubbing her hands lovingly over his little body. “I’m Laura Kinkaid.”

my review

4 Stars

Laguna Lights is the third book in this series and I was excited to experience another fun, romance with this crew.  I feel like I know everyone now and I absolutely love revisiting their seaside town of Laguna Beach.

Laura Kinkaid’s character didn’t come across initially is very likable. She created this whole larger than life reality TV persona but instead of just being a character for a show, it became who she was. Everything feels fake and done for a reaction instead of for finding real joy.  So after a pretty big shake up in her world, Laura decides it’s time to make some major changes to her life but it’s overwhelming and she isn’t really sure where to start.

After realizing that the place she ran from might actually be where she needs to be, she returns home to Laguna Beach.  Lonely and confused as to what she should do next, Laura is lucky that fate steps in and she meets Paul. Together they find friendship and love.  Laura finds that getting your happily ever after isn’t necessarily about fame but more so who’s at your side on your journey through life.

I thought Laguna Lights was a very entertaining and enticing read.  Paul and Laura were a swoon worthy couple that gave me that melty, warm feeling of love.  Definitely check their romance out!
