Tess Diamond is a new to me author but after reading the blurb for Dangerous Games, I couldn’t wait to start this book. I love romantic suspense books and this plot looked like it would be an exciting story. I was rewarded with an incredible adventure that I liked so much that I emailed the author to ask about the next book immediately upon finishing the first.
Here’s the deal. Maggie isn’t actually an FBI agent – she left the agency two years ago after a hostage situation ended badly. However, she could get her job back if she wanted but she doesn’t exactly like being confined to the rules, (she prefers to rely on her gut instinct and logic) so returning doesn’t feel like an option for her.
However, when her FBI mentor approaches her about the Senator’s daughter, she hesitates about jumping right in. Because thanks to her own life experiences, she cannot ignore a case surrounding the missing teen and she just needs to help. She takes finding the girl very seriously and as you get to know Maggie, you will understand why.
It’s at this point that you’re introduced to a whole bunch of characters from previous co-workers to ex-fiancés. One man stands out and completely distracts Maggie’s attention – Jake O’Connor. He is an ex-special forces that works for Senator and even though he doesn’t immediately agree with her initial conclusions, their relationship (both professionally and romantically) develops quickly.
And I was captivated by it all. The storyline. The romance. Page after page is filled with enticing moments of suspense and seduction. Maggie and Jake are intriguing characters who I’m looking forward to getting to know better as the series continues.
Overall, I thought the book moved along at a swift pace and that were are several jaw dropping moments that caught me by surprise. I think I even appreciated that Dangerous Games ended with a cliffhanger because I was left feeling giddy and desperate for more. It’s awesome. I am highly anticipating the continuation of Jake and Maggie’s story – I would definitely recommend you start this series today!
