A scarred fighter.
A girl with rules.
One night of unbridled passion.
There are three things you need to know about Elizabeth Bennett: she’s smart as a whip, always in control, and lives by a set of carefully crafted rules. She’s learned the hard way that people you love the most always hurt you in the end.
But then she meets Declan Blay, the new neighbor at her apartment complex.
A tattooed British street fighter, he’s the campus bad boy she’s supposed to avoid, but when he saves her from a frat party gone bad, all her rules about sex and love fly out the window.
She gives him one night of unbridled passion, but he longs for more.
With only a cardboard-thin wall separating their bedrooms, he dreams of possessing the vulnerable girl next door forever.
One night. Two damaged hearts. The passion of a lifetime.
She’s addicted to all things fantasy, including unicorns and sword-wielding heroes in books. Other fascinations include frothy coffee beverages, dark chocolate, Instagram, Ian Somerhalder (seriously hot), astronomy (she’s a Gemini), Sephora make-up, and tattoos.
She has a degree in English and a Master’s in Education.
When she’s not pecking away on her computer, she shops for cool magnets, paints old furniture, and eats her weight in sushi.
Everything about Dirty English kicks ass – I freaking LOVED the twins and Declan’s romance with Elizabeth. The time I spent in their world kept me completely entertained and I am addicted to this new set of characters Ilsa Madden-Mills has created. It’s an awesome love story and an absolute must read.
The story starts with a heartbreaking prologue. Within just a few pages, she had my empathy and I genuinely hurt for Elizabeth. When the jumps forward two years, I understood why she guarded her heart and why she made the vow to never love again. Elizabeth is a truly a remarkable character. I was impressed with her drive to move forward and I liked how she knows where her personal boundaries are but yet still tries to push herself beyond what makes her comfortable.
Enter Declan. He’s all kinds of panty melting goodness. One half of a hot British duo, Declan is a fighter and a protector. He’s enticing – his personality is both sweet and sexy. His reaction to Elizabeth is what every single female truly wants. He’s captivated and enthralled by her; unwilling to give up on the attraction he feels for her even though she consistently rejects his advances.
And she does that because Declan makes Elizabeth feel to much. Her heart races and she is consumed by her attraction to him. So much so that even though he’s everything she does not want and hopes to avoid, she eventually cannot resist his charms or her feelings toward him. Their relationship and connection is intense much like their personalities. They’re both a little damaged but together they’re stronger. Better.
Their romance was fun to read even though at times my heart ached for these two. The author did an incredible job balancing out the right levels of angst and hopefulness – you’re easily and emotionally attached to both characters. I loved it.
I definitely recommend Dirty English and I’m praying that it is the start of a new series revolving around this set of family and friends. (I desperately want Dax’s book next!!) One click this book today – you’ll love it too!
