Extreme Risk Series (Book 3)
Release Date: September 29, 2015
Do nice guys always finish last? In the new Extreme Risk novel from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Tracy Wolff, a burnt-out underdog and a vulnerable tomboy defy the pressure to be perfect and go after what they really want.
Bighearted and easygoing, Luc Jennings is falling behind in a family of serious overachievers. While he may be decent enough at snowboarding to turn pro and rack up some sponsors, he’s never topped any podiums—unlike his friends Z, Ash, and Cam. Luc’s always been head over heels for Cam Bradley, but she’s never seen him as anything more than a friend. Now, after years of coming in second, Luc can’t take it anymore—especially if it means watching Cam chase another guy.
Cam hangs out almost exclusively with dudes, and that’s fine by her. She’d much rather be shredding at the Olympics than primping in the mirror. Cam’s wildest dreams have a way of coming true—except when it comes to getting her longtime crush and best friend, Z Michaels, to notice her. Then her mother suddenly shows up after being gone for, like, ever, and Cam’s whole world comes crashing down. Desperate for a place to lay low, she turns to the one person who’s always had her back.
Shredded (Book 1)
Shattered (Book 2)
And for all of those who want the unedited version:
Tracy Wolff lives with four men, teaches writing to local college students and spends as much time as she can manage immersed in worlds of her own creation. Married to the alpha hero of her dreams for twelve years, she is the mother of three young sons who spend most of their time trying to make her as crazy as possible.
I’m a huge fan of Tracey Wolff’s books and I absolutely love her Extreme Risk series. The characters and their stories are incredible – highly entertaining. The latest book in the series, Slashed, is one that I have been highly anticipating. We are finally get to read Cam and Luc’s romance.
These two have been best friends their entire lives and have been involved in the worst love triangle ever. Why is that?!? Because no one involved was actually in a relationship with anyone else. Cam was in love with Z while Luc was in love with Cam – and Z. Well, he wanted someone completely outside their group of friends. No one’s feeling were being reciprocated and it was awkward.
Until one night, when Cam and Luc changed the course of their relationship by hooking up when they were drunk. It was a dream come true for Luc but it was Cam’s reaction that altered their friendship. For months, the two could barely spend time together but whatever is going on between them is unfinished.
Their romance is rocky and you almost feel like they may never find their happily ever after. Fear and lack of trust dominate all of their actions. It makes for frustrating but enjoyable reading.
Overall, I really liked this story. I feel like it complimented the other books in the series and it was awesome to revisit a group of friends I truly love indulging my time with. I definitely recommend read the Extreme Risk Series – it’s a must read for fan of sports romance or friends to lovers books.
