Jules Donovan has been in and out of unsavory foster homes and repulsive motels her entire life. She’s known nothing but loss, abandonment, crime, and pain. Now that she’s aged out of the system, she can’t remember ever having dreams for her future because she’s constantly fighting for daily survival.
When she meets the Riley brothers, there’s something about them that draws her in. She’s never let her guard down, but Dante and Holden make her feel valuable, like she actually matters. And for the first time in her life, she senses something she’s never experienced before—protection.
But can these mysterious brothers keep her safe from the dark monsters that lie in wait, ready for their final revenge? And how in the hell does older brother Dante know so much about her anyway?
Unbeknownst to her, things have been set in motion ever since she was ripped from her mother’s womb and, as each jagged piece of her life unfolds, she will begin to wonder, who’s really in charge of her fate?

Argggg!! So I devoured this book. It had a suspenseful plot filled with surprises and plot twists that left my jaw on the ground. I really liked Relinquished and would recommend you check it out.
Jules’ world was dark and dingy. It’s a sad place that you desperately want to rescue her from. This is coupled with her HORRIFIC past. She is barely surviving and the only potential bright light in her life is her budding friendships with Holden and his brother, Dante. They are the first people to ever show her any kindness, ever. Their book is exciting and a bit thrilling.
I did struggle a bit with the character’s connections and the way the author shared their thoughts.
It is Jules’ story and it is told from both her perspective as well as Dante’s. So I honestly felt confused – the author was telling me about this romantic bond between Holden and Jules. Yet, she was sharing Dante’s voice and story – one that was only connected to the suspense plot but not romantically. I was baffled – I didn’t know if eventually there was going to be an awkward love triangle or what was going on. It left me with a weird feeling as I read.
However, the book’s plot plays out incredibly well. The way the author blows everything you think you know up is amazing. It almost completely redeemed the awkwardness for me. It definitely made the story interesting.
Relinquished is an entertaining story and my minor issues with the book should not discourage you from reading it. It really is an awesome story.
