book blurb

I don’t do love. Hearts, flowers, dates, girlfriends, it’s all pointless. Why tie yourself down to one person when you can have a different one every night. Sure there have been a few that have intrigued me but none ever made me think about hanging around. No one ever haunted my thoughts after I left.

Until Her.

I just wanted one night of freedom. A chance to live without prying, judging eyes. When I met him, the moment he first touched me, it’s like I was hypnotized. I got caught up in the moment and made a mistake, I never thought he would be so cold after it. No one has ever made me feel that way.

Until him.

Hunter Stone never imagined when he was assigned to guard one of the world’s up and coming stars that she would be the girl he used the night before. Now he has to be around her and make sure that she’s safe. Samantha Baker has been receiving anonymous threats, the last person she expected to walk through the door was the man that dismissed her the night before. Now she has to deal with his arrogant attitude on a daily basis, while she is still infatuated with him.

When you push love away will you be able to recognize it when it’s right in front of your face? Or will everything be ripped away before you get the chance to really live?

my review

 4 Stars

Protecting Her starts out strong and doesn’t let up for a single moment. The characters and their world pulls you in – you’re both entertained and enchanted by them. (Well, maybe not by Samantha’s mom).

Holy freaking chemistry. Sam and Hunter connect instantly and their adventure together starts after they share one lustful evening at a club. It ends poorly (and that’s putting it nicely) and it feels like Hunter will be one more thing that Samantha has to endure in her life.

Yet, the two become unlikely friends and allies. Lovers. With each chapter you feel their bond intensifying and becoming better. Their journey to happily ever after is not an easy one.  They are up against one evil parent and a very crazy stalker.  And two people not sure if they want or are ready for a serious relationship.  It’s an awesome journey to happily ever after.

Overall, I really liked this book. I laughed out loud several times at the quick wit and banter between the characters. I thought the plot’s pace moved along swiftly and there was never a place where I wanted to put the book down to do something else. I would definitely recommend Protecting Her and will look for other books by this author to read.
