Not every love story is just a happy ending. Some completely change your life.
LAURA WARD is the author of PAST HEAVEN and the New Adult novel, NOT YET. She lives in Maryland with her loud and very loving three children and husband. Laura married her college sweetheart and is endlessly grateful for the support he has given her through all their years together, and especially toward her goal of writing books. When not picking up toy trucks, driving to lacrosse practice, or checking spelling homework, Laura is writing or reading romance novels.
Past Heaven is a sweet and alluring story about a two people who overcome very different losses to find happiness again. The book grips your heart and your attention right from the start – you are almost instantly hooked onto Reynolds and Liz’s story. It was my first book from Laura Ward and I truly enjoyed every moment of it.
Reynolds Carter is a movie star who is no longer enamored with his life – it all seems fake including his own personal love story. He is searching for something to ground him and his world. What he finds is everything he never wanted but what is exactly needed for his own peace of mind and well-being.
Liz Atwaters’s life is the extreme opposite. She has lived the dream. Her life was dedicated to her family – her husband and three boys. But her life gets rocked. Hard. Thanks to her determination to take care of her boys, her family and friend’s support, Liz is maintaining her life but she is struggling though to find her new normal.
Liz and Reyns connection is felt from their first interactions. However, their healing and romance was a process – one that was not neccessarily a smooth ride but definitely an entertaining read. I liked how both characters were completely lost within their own lives but for totally different reasons and that their solutions were not instantaneous.
Past Heaven reminds you that life is always moving in different directions and most the time the events at propel you forward you have little or no control over. It’s how you deal with the aftermath that defines your character and who you are as a person. Laura Ward’s Past Heaven is a journey about two people re-building themselves as well as a beautiful love story. It is a wonderful book and I definitely recommend it.
